Christmas Wish List

So how was everyone's Christmas! I had a nice quiet time at home, spending time with family. The end of the year is always the time when I look back and think of all I've accomplished and all that I hope to accomplish in the future. And even though I'm thankful for everything I have, I also do think about what I hope to get in the future. Here's my Christmas wish list of 2012, what's yours?

#1. Chanel 2.55

The most classic, coveted bag in fashion. My favourite is lambskin, even though caviar is more hardy. And I love beige, but black is also such a great everyday option.

Green might not be my first choice in an investment bag but I really like the colour and details on this Chanel carried by Kim Kardashian.

#2. Lady Dior

Yet another gorgeous classic, and even though it's not so coveted as the 2.55, I just love this bag too. Maybe partly because Marion Cotillard is the face of Dior, and I really admire her.

#3. Blazer
The dress is so pretty! I love everything in this picture.
It's super difficult to wear blazers when Singapore is just so hot. Even on rainy days, when the sun comes up, I get very sticky from the humidity. Not a great look. So even though I really like blazers (especially paired with skinny jeans), I haven't gotten one. Yet?

#4.Victoria's Secret fashion show robe 2012

Every year, they come out with gorgeous Fashion Show robes for backstage, and I just love this year's version.

#5. Learn how to bake macaroons.

This isn't an item, it's more of a skill. I tried my hand at making macaroons this year, and I failed horribly. They were more like flat long oval biscuits than anything else.

#6. Bath And Body Works Candles

The summer and Christmas scents this year look amazing! I am so jealous of anyone who lives in the US who is able to go to a Bath and Body Works store and just purchase whatever they want. Bath And Body Works, are you ever going to expand to Asia?

#7. Starbucks Gift Card and Toffee Nut Frappe available all year round!

My favourite Starbucks drink used to be caramel frappe, but ever since they came out with toffee nut frappe this Christmas, I've been drinking only that. I meant to try Mocha Frappe but every time I walk into a Starbucks, I come out carrying a toffee nut frappe and a big smile on my face.

#8. Dark Purple Lipstick

Dark shades are big this year, and but I haven't had the guts to try it out. Bright red is already a lip colour I find hard to wear. I'll make this my new year's resolution!

So what's your Christmas wish list? Hope you had a fabulous Christmas!

Intro Post

Despite the name, this blog is not about carousels or couture (although you never know, that might change?). Nobody likes to spend money on something, only to discover that it does not deliver what it has promised. I sure don't. So I start this blog with the hopes that perhaps it'll help someone find their holy grail. And maybe, I'll find my own on the way too. Expect to find beauty and skincare reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, and current obsessions. Oh, and a little couture here and there too.

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour 499 Dark Cherry review

TDLR Review:  I would not recommend this hair colour product at all, because the shade turned out nothing like the box. Also it is difficult to wash off.  NOTE: I have dark Asian hair, which might be the reason why it's not suitable for this product. So I'm back with another hair dye review! I've raved about the Liese hair dyes before ( Cassis Berry , Sweet Apricot , Antique Rose ), because those are super easy to use (I've appreciated that even more after finding out how difficult some at-home hair dye kits can be to apply). But I got suckered into getting a box of Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour hair dye, because the models on Schwarzkopf hair dye boxes always have gorgeous shades of hair! I've used Schwarzkopf before, I've bought the Palette in Magical Blue Black (no review, only a haul). But I was disappointed with it, because there was only a faint sheen of blue, and the black faded from my hair quite quickly. The trouble with Schwarzkopf also is

Old Town White Coffee Ipoh Hor Fun review

Who doesn't like Old Town White Coffee? It's so nostalgic, from the furniture they have to the food they serve. It's really like a throwback to the simpler times in Singapore. According to Wikipedia, Old Town White Coffee is the largest kopitiam restaurant chain in Malaysia and has over 180 outlets in the region. Can you believe that? I love their kaya toast and of course, their Ipoh Hor Fun. Why go to Penang when you can just enjoy the Hor Fun here? Normally I get those Ipoh Hor Fun that is served in rich gravy, with not much soup. But this one is served in a clear broth, which is perfect for a light meal that is also filling. At the end of it, you won't feel too full or bloated like if you had something richer. The kway teow is served with generous helpings of prawns and chicken shreds every time I go there (my favourite outlet is Playground at East Coast Park, the area that used to be Big Splash. There are 8 outlets in Singapore at the moment, and they ar
