Current Obsession: Clutches!

Normally I like my hands to be free when I'm walking around. Whilst shopping, it's difficult to be holding something in my hands when I'm trying to pick something out. While paying at the cashier, I have to balance everything whilst counting my change. Whenever I am holding a bag, I often use the handle strap or sling it over my shoulder for ease of use.

But currently I've been obsessed with clutches, large clutches perfect for everyday use, to be precise. It pretty much started with the arrival of Kate Spade's book clutches a while back.

Kate Spade released several versions of eye-catching clutches disguised as books with classic titles. Now they've expanded their repertoire to include Emma and Romeo and Juliet. But I really fell in love when they released their Emmanuelle Candy Darling Glitter Clutch in time for Christmas.

The beautiful clutch is covered in gold glitter (that does not come off on your hands) topped with a big transparent bow. It was perfect for parties, and even included a long strap. I stopped by every Kate Spade store to admire it, but never found the justification to buy it for myself.

Alas, Christmas came and went, and so did the clutch :(

But there are still many clutches to be found, and it seems that this trend is here to stay for a while. After all, we've all had aching shoulders with oversized clumsy bags, it is time to soothe those shoulders with these tiny bags in gorgeous colours to tote around.

The Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac Bag is a favourite among YouTube vloggers, especially as they come in quite a variety of colours. From pastel pink and mint green, to neon yellow and blue, to black and white stripes, there'll definitely be a colour you'll love. It's got several compartments, which comes in handy, and also a handle strap in case your arms get tired.

I've been a fan of Reed Krakoff since I saw his sturdy boxer satchels n his first collection. For an Executive Creative Director of Coach, you'd expect his own line to be reminiscent of Coach bags. I've been pleasantly surprised with his structured boxy bags that are great for the executive look, and the colour palette is both soothing and professional. Here, he's gone one step further with a boxer clutch, that have been replicated in many stores. And it's got his signature strap wrap too. How can you not love it?

Normally I don't exactly like the ruched pattern that Miu Miu incorporates into their bags, but who can resist this gorgeous Miu Miu clutch, especially in pale pink / nude! It also comes in basic black and silver and gold for an evening out, as well as other bolder colours. But I love how wearable this shade of nude is.

Envelope clutches are all the rage, and can range from S$20 to a few hundred dollars. They also come in many different colours and finishes, from matte to glossy.

The large YSL clutch sure looks like a handful, but it's really comfortable to carry, and spacious enough to put your wallet without it bulging out.

Of course, if you've got clever fingers and like to experiment, there are several videos that showcase DIY clutches. I especially like Dulcecandy87's version of colour blocking clutch, made from white faux leather. I'd love to try it out myself one day, but perhaps with fabric instead. Only issue I have is that I'm still learning about interfacing and interlining, to make the material stronger.Have a look:

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour 499 Dark Cherry review

TDLR Review:  I would not recommend this hair colour product at all, because the shade turned out nothing like the box. Also it is difficult to wash off.  NOTE: I have dark Asian hair, which might be the reason why it's not suitable for this product. So I'm back with another hair dye review! I've raved about the Liese hair dyes before ( Cassis Berry , Sweet Apricot , Antique Rose ), because those are super easy to use (I've appreciated that even more after finding out how difficult some at-home hair dye kits can be to apply). But I got suckered into getting a box of Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour hair dye, because the models on Schwarzkopf hair dye boxes always have gorgeous shades of hair! I've used Schwarzkopf before, I've bought the Palette in Magical Blue Black (no review, only a haul). But I was disappointed with it, because there was only a faint sheen of blue, and the black faded from my hair quite quickly. The trouble with Schwarzkopf also is

Intro Post

Despite the name, this blog is not about carousels or couture (although you never know, that might change?). Nobody likes to spend money on something, only to discover that it does not deliver what it has promised. I sure don't. So I start this blog with the hopes that perhaps it'll help someone find their holy grail. And maybe, I'll find my own on the way too. Expect to find beauty and skincare reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, and current obsessions. Oh, and a little couture here and there too.

Old Town White Coffee Ipoh Hor Fun review

Who doesn't like Old Town White Coffee? It's so nostalgic, from the furniture they have to the food they serve. It's really like a throwback to the simpler times in Singapore. According to Wikipedia, Old Town White Coffee is the largest kopitiam restaurant chain in Malaysia and has over 180 outlets in the region. Can you believe that? I love their kaya toast and of course, their Ipoh Hor Fun. Why go to Penang when you can just enjoy the Hor Fun here? Normally I get those Ipoh Hor Fun that is served in rich gravy, with not much soup. But this one is served in a clear broth, which is perfect for a light meal that is also filling. At the end of it, you won't feel too full or bloated like if you had something richer. The kway teow is served with generous helpings of prawns and chicken shreds every time I go there (my favourite outlet is Playground at East Coast Park, the area that used to be Big Splash. There are 8 outlets in Singapore at the moment, and they ar
