IKEA treasure! Chest of Drawers for makeup!

Went to IKEA a couple of weeks back, and guess what I finally spotted?

These IKEA Moppe chest of drawers used to be extremely popular, because they're so handy in storing all sorts of things, from makeup to stationery to bottles and tubes of products. I'd been looking for these but IKEA Tampines and IKEA Alexandra were always out of stock. I really wanted to get them to reorganize my makeup, because they're just scattered everywhere on my table. Eventually I figured I should just give up and take a look at other options, like this Muji acrylic drawers.
These clear acrylic drawers are really pretty and they come in 2-drawer, 3-drawer and 5-drawer versions. And since they are clear, it is really easy to see your makeup and pick out what you want.

But the drawers are kind of thin. It's really hard to store larger items, like my Chacott loose powder, or my blushes. And they are quite expensive too. The 2 drawers are S$23, the larger 2 drawers are S$29, the large 3 drawers are S$23, and the large 5 drawers are S$39.

Another option was the Daiso acrylic drawers. For S$2, that sure sounds cheap. But they are forever out of stock, and every single time I go to Daiso, I never see them on the shelves. Every single girl in Singapore must be having the same idea!

So anyway, back to IKEA. So I was walking through IKEA Tampines, and I found a whole lot of these drawers just waiting to be bought!

I stood there for sooo long trying to decide which one to buy. The larger one looks really good but I didn't know whether it could fit on my dressing table. And I didn't want to go home, measure out the distance, then come back and buy. What if they sold out... again?

So I sat there, and walked around, and debated in my head... and finally bought the smaller of the two. But at S$29, it's so worth it! Now I finally have a proper place to store all my powder foundations, blushes, mascaras, eyeshadows, and highlighting powder. That's what is inside my drawers right now! Very satisfied with my purchase. Not only that, there's plenty of website out there that teach you how to DIY the drawers to customize to your taste. But I'm leaving mine just the way they are, unless I decide how to bling them :D

So if you're interested in these, IKEA Tampines has a stock of them, but I don't know how long it'll be till they're sold out. Not sure if IKEA Alexandra has them.

Intro Post

Despite the name, this blog is not about carousels or couture (although you never know, that might change?). Nobody likes to spend money on something, only to discover that it does not deliver what it has promised. I sure don't. So I start this blog with the hopes that perhaps it'll help someone find their holy grail. And maybe, I'll find my own on the way too. Expect to find beauty and skincare reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, and current obsessions. Oh, and a little couture here and there too.

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour 499 Dark Cherry review

TDLR Review:  I would not recommend this hair colour product at all, because the shade turned out nothing like the box. Also it is difficult to wash off.  NOTE: I have dark Asian hair, which might be the reason why it's not suitable for this product. So I'm back with another hair dye review! I've raved about the Liese hair dyes before ( Cassis Berry , Sweet Apricot , Antique Rose ), because those are super easy to use (I've appreciated that even more after finding out how difficult some at-home hair dye kits can be to apply). But I got suckered into getting a box of Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour hair dye, because the models on Schwarzkopf hair dye boxes always have gorgeous shades of hair! I've used Schwarzkopf before, I've bought the Palette in Magical Blue Black (no review, only a haul). But I was disappointed with it, because there was only a faint sheen of blue, and the black faded from my hair quite quickly. The trouble with Schwarzkopf also is

Old Town White Coffee Ipoh Hor Fun review

Who doesn't like Old Town White Coffee? It's so nostalgic, from the furniture they have to the food they serve. It's really like a throwback to the simpler times in Singapore. According to Wikipedia, Old Town White Coffee is the largest kopitiam restaurant chain in Malaysia and has over 180 outlets in the region. Can you believe that? I love their kaya toast and of course, their Ipoh Hor Fun. Why go to Penang when you can just enjoy the Hor Fun here? Normally I get those Ipoh Hor Fun that is served in rich gravy, with not much soup. But this one is served in a clear broth, which is perfect for a light meal that is also filling. At the end of it, you won't feel too full or bloated like if you had something richer. The kway teow is served with generous helpings of prawns and chicken shreds every time I go there (my favourite outlet is Playground at East Coast Park, the area that used to be Big Splash. There are 8 outlets in Singapore at the moment, and they ar
