Wet Wipes reviews

So I swung by Daiso this week, and resisted the temptation to buy everything. Daiso is really a treasure trove! Even if you have no intention to buy anything, it's pretty easy to get suckered into buying at least one item. Plus, it's so easy to justify to yourself because "It's only two dollars!". Well, it's just as easy to accumulate your purchases. Once, I saw a girl buying over S$100 worth of products. What could she have possibly bought?

Then again, if I had an unlimited amount of money to spend on Daiso, I'd probably be buying that many products myself.

Anyway, I found the display selling wet wipes, and I was amazed. Usually I buy mine from Watsons when they have a bundle on offer, and usuallythey're about S$4-5 for 30 pieces. But Daiso was selling 50-150 wet wipes for only S$2! The difference in amounts is because of the packaging that they come in, and the quality of wet wipes. There are large boxes with 150 pieces, and there are smaller boxes or just plastic wrappers with about 50 pieces. I bought a round purple tube with 70 pieces and a snap lid. How cute!

I generally only use wet wipes to clean my furniture or items. I don't use them for my face or hands, and I certainly don't use them for makeup. Here's a list and basic review of the wet wipes that I have tried so far:

Dettol wipes (10 pieces) - There was a point in time where I was obsessed about Dettol. After all, don't they have the best reputation for killing germs and keeping things clean? I had a Dettol hand soap, Dettol hand sanitizer and of course, Dettol wet wipes. But the one thing I couldn't stand was the smell. The medicinal scent is so strong and it lingers for a while. I definitely did not enjoy it. It was also the most expensive wet wipes, but at the same time they have the thickest material.

Watsons Wet Wipes (10 pieces per pack) - I'm always fond of getting the Watsons wet wipes when they're on offer because it's usually about S$5 for a bundle of 30 pieces. I always think that that's a good deal, because they're thick (not as thick as Dettol, but pretty close) and they have different varieties of scents. They even have unscented ones in case you don't like lavender or rose.

Miine Angry Birds wet tissues (10 pieces) - Miine very recently launched (get it? launched?) Angry Birds themed wet tissues with different birds on the cover. These colourful packets also have different scents like green tea and lavender, and unscented ones for those who prefer them. I got the green tea scent at S$4.50 for 30 pieces, although I think Watsons keeps changing the prices. And I thought that was a steal! The material is rayon fabric and I think they're about the same as the ones from Watsons, but  I love the smell. The cute packaging is pretty great too.

So we come to the ones from Daiso. What is most important, is reading the instructions. Because I pulled out the first tissue from the outside instead of the middle, and wondered why it didn't keep coming out like ordinary boxed tissues. And even after that, I have a bit of trouble getting them out properly. They are much thinner than what I'm used to, so there's a danger in tearing part of the tissues. They are unscented, and as far as I know Daiso does not sell any scented wet wipes (I could be wrong). While they are thin, they do the job nicely. I will probably continue buying them, especially since they are so cheap and the tube is so interesting and unique.

You just gotta love Daiso!

Intro Post

Despite the name, this blog is not about carousels or couture (although you never know, that might change?). Nobody likes to spend money on something, only to discover that it does not deliver what it has promised. I sure don't. So I start this blog with the hopes that perhaps it'll help someone find their holy grail. And maybe, I'll find my own on the way too. Expect to find beauty and skincare reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, and current obsessions. Oh, and a little couture here and there too.

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour 499 Dark Cherry review

TDLR Review:  I would not recommend this hair colour product at all, because the shade turned out nothing like the box. Also it is difficult to wash off.  NOTE: I have dark Asian hair, which might be the reason why it's not suitable for this product. So I'm back with another hair dye review! I've raved about the Liese hair dyes before ( Cassis Berry , Sweet Apricot , Antique Rose ), because those are super easy to use (I've appreciated that even more after finding out how difficult some at-home hair dye kits can be to apply). But I got suckered into getting a box of Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour hair dye, because the models on Schwarzkopf hair dye boxes always have gorgeous shades of hair! I've used Schwarzkopf before, I've bought the Palette in Magical Blue Black (no review, only a haul). But I was disappointed with it, because there was only a faint sheen of blue, and the black faded from my hair quite quickly. The trouble with Schwarzkopf also is

Old Town White Coffee Ipoh Hor Fun review

Who doesn't like Old Town White Coffee? It's so nostalgic, from the furniture they have to the food they serve. It's really like a throwback to the simpler times in Singapore. According to Wikipedia, Old Town White Coffee is the largest kopitiam restaurant chain in Malaysia and has over 180 outlets in the region. Can you believe that? I love their kaya toast and of course, their Ipoh Hor Fun. Why go to Penang when you can just enjoy the Hor Fun here? Normally I get those Ipoh Hor Fun that is served in rich gravy, with not much soup. But this one is served in a clear broth, which is perfect for a light meal that is also filling. At the end of it, you won't feel too full or bloated like if you had something richer. The kway teow is served with generous helpings of prawns and chicken shreds every time I go there (my favourite outlet is Playground at East Coast Park, the area that used to be Big Splash. There are 8 outlets in Singapore at the moment, and they ar
