TLDR Review: Definitely buy them. So worth it. If you want soft and smooth hair, this is for you. BUT if you want voluminous hair, this might not be for you because this is not meant to give you volume. Disclaimer: I have Asian hair.
Essential is most famous for targeting the cuticles of the last 15cm of our hair, because that's where our hair is the driest and needs the most moisture.
Ever since Kao came out with the Essential Nuance Airy and Rich Premier (in Pink and orange), I have been obsessed with their hair masks. Not only are they affordable, they're really good. Not to mention they come in really cute jars! But I wasn't so interested in the rest of their hair products: the shampoo, conditioner and hair treatment.
Now Essential has come up with another range! The Purely Smooth range targets damaged and rough hair and gives a light smooth finish. And of course, this range also targets the last 15cm of our hair, making sure it is smoother and tangle-free.
I have to admit, when I first saw the light yellow packaging, I thought they were from Asience. Both Essential and Asience actually come from Kao, so it's not that surprising.
But what I love about the Essential Purely Smooth bottles are the scalloped top. The bottles have such pretty shell-like patterns, which makes it look unique.
I got a free sample of shampoo and conditioner, and I love how they have a sweet thank you note attached. The samples are really large too, I was able to wash my hair twice before I ran out of product.
I used to like the Rich Premier (orange) range, but I think this is my new favorite range. I absolutely lo-ove the feeling of my hair after washing, it's so soft and smooth. It's a great everyday shampoo that doesn't dry out my hair, and leaves such a nice fruity smell too. I've already bought the full-size products and am using them for washing my hair, and they work so well.
Please note that if you want to get voluminous hair, this might not be the product for you, unless you also style your hair with hairspray, etc. This shampoo and conditioner alone will give you soft hair.
*Essential Purely Smooth range retail at most departmental stores and pharmacies, and retail at $8.50.
