Liese Sweet Apricot Hair Dye review

http://angmogirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/products_ph011.jpg

Thanks to the popularity of the Liese Antique Rose review that I did (you may read it here) and the Cassis Berry review (read here), I've decided to recount my previous experiences with Liese hair dyes. I've already tried it for a total of three times, and the second time I went for Sweet Apricot.

Liese released Sweet Apricot (brown) along with Platinum Beige (ash), and I picked up Sweet Apricot as I was tempted to see what it would look like. But, I forgot to massage it in completely, so I was left with uneven hair, especially the roots and the inner layers of the hair. And since this was a bright colour, the black (my original hair colour) was very obvious.

The colour itself was quite nice. It turned out a little more brown than the orange that is on the cover of the box, but it is a nice bright colour. Also, on the second wash it still looks exactly the same (unlike some other brands that will start to fade). In real life, it is a little less bright but when you take flash pictures, the hair colour will really pop. It's very gorgeous.

I feel that it is sort of a 'young' colour. As in, it is a fresh young look, as opposed to Antique Rose which is more muted, more mature and more glamorous. But of course, that's just my opinion.

What I like about Sweet Apricot is that the ammonia smell is not strong, which is a relief. Also, my hair did not feel damaged after dyeing, but I made sure to massage in the hair lotion to keep the ends healthy and moisturized.

The downside is that when your roots start to show, and you have a very different coloured original hair, it will look quite obvious. Also, the roots will begin to show within about a month's time, which is what I do not like about Liese. Their hair dyes may be cheap, but the roots will show very quickly. My hair grows quickly so within a month I could see my roots, but perhaps if your hair grows slower you might not see your roots till a couple of months later. Either way, it is quite a temporary hair dye till you need to touch up on the roots, but I think that the colour is quite worth it.

Also, a few tips to help you if you are colouring your hair with this shade (or with other shades from Liese):

1. Massage the hair lotion on the tips of your hair just after washing, and before drying / blow-drying.

2. Take your time in massaging in the hair dye throughout your hair, and try not to tangle it.

3. Dye your hair in a well-ventilated room. For Sweet Apricot, the ammonia smell is not strong, but for Antique Rose, the smell was very strong (I guess it varies based on the formula they use)

4. Let the hair dye soak in for as long as you possibly can. It says to keep it in for 30 - 40 minutes, so I left it in for 40 minutes.

Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour 499 Dark Cherry review

TDLR Review:  I would not recommend this hair colour product at all, because the shade turned out nothing like the box. Also it is difficult to wash off.  NOTE: I have dark Asian hair, which might be the reason why it's not suitable for this product. So I'm back with another hair dye review! I've raved about the Liese hair dyes before ( Cassis Berry , Sweet Apricot , Antique Rose ), because those are super easy to use (I've appreciated that even more after finding out how difficult some at-home hair dye kits can be to apply). But I got suckered into getting a box of Schwarzkopf Ultimate Colour hair dye, because the models on Schwarzkopf hair dye boxes always have gorgeous shades of hair! I've used Schwarzkopf before, I've bought the Palette in Magical Blue Black (no review, only a haul). But I was disappointed with it, because there was only a faint sheen of blue, and the black faded from my hair quite quickly. The trouble with Schwarzkopf also is

Intro Post

Despite the name, this blog is not about carousels or couture (although you never know, that might change?). Nobody likes to spend money on something, only to discover that it does not deliver what it has promised. I sure don't. So I start this blog with the hopes that perhaps it'll help someone find their holy grail. And maybe, I'll find my own on the way too. Expect to find beauty and skincare reviews, book reviews, movie reviews, and current obsessions. Oh, and a little couture here and there too.

Old Town White Coffee Ipoh Hor Fun review

Who doesn't like Old Town White Coffee? It's so nostalgic, from the furniture they have to the food they serve. It's really like a throwback to the simpler times in Singapore. According to Wikipedia, Old Town White Coffee is the largest kopitiam restaurant chain in Malaysia and has over 180 outlets in the region. Can you believe that? I love their kaya toast and of course, their Ipoh Hor Fun. Why go to Penang when you can just enjoy the Hor Fun here? Normally I get those Ipoh Hor Fun that is served in rich gravy, with not much soup. But this one is served in a clear broth, which is perfect for a light meal that is also filling. At the end of it, you won't feel too full or bloated like if you had something richer. The kway teow is served with generous helpings of prawns and chicken shreds every time I go there (my favourite outlet is Playground at East Coast Park, the area that used to be Big Splash. There are 8 outlets in Singapore at the moment, and they ar
